Chemical properties: white crystalline powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents, derived from betel nut.
Use: norarecoline has the effect of anticancer and anti-inflammatory. Pharmacological action Arecoline lacks the typical parasympathetic effect of arecoline, can also affect the behavior of mice, and can reduce the autonomous activity and exploration behavior of mice. Some studies have shown that arecoline and demethylarecoline have the activity of C-aminobutyric acid (GABA) reuptake inhibitor on rat brain slices. Another study used cat spinal cord section to point out that arecoline can enhance the inhibitory activity of GAGB and ChemicalbookB-alanine, while norarecoline can increase the inhibitory activity of GAGB without affecting the activity of glycine. This study also found that after intravenous injection of arecoline, it has no effect on the activity of GAGB, which indicates that arecoline itself may not be able to act through the blood-brain barrier, and the effect of arecoline on the central nervous system may be through the transmitter system other than GAGB.
Biological Activity: Arecaidine, a pyridine alkaloid, is a potent GABA absorption inhibitor. Arecaidine is a substrate of H+-coupled amino acid transporter 1 (PAT1, SLC36A1), competitively inhibits L-proline uptake.
Category: Toxic
Flammability hazard characteristics: combustible; combustion produces toxic nitrogen oxide smoke
Storage and transportation characteristics: the warehouse is ventilated, low-temperature and dry
Extinguishing media: dry powder, foam, sand, carbon dioxide, water mist
