Pharmacological action: Centella asiatica (L) Urban is a dry whole grass or a whole grass with roots, also known as Leigong root, horseshoe root and Rhododendron. The mixture of Asiaticoside A and Asiaticoside B has the pharmacological effects of promoting wound healing, anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory, anti-depression, and promoting intelligence. By comparing the pharmacological effects of asiaticoside in promoting wound healing and treating scars, it can be found that asiaticoside A and asiaticoside B may play a major role in the anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, and intelligence promotion of asiaticoside.

Preparation method: Weigh 500g of crushed Centella asiatica powder, soak it in 2500ml of 75% ethanol aqueous solution, extract it four times under 50 ℃, one hour each time, filter it, combine the filtrate and concentrate it under reduced pressure to obtain 20.5g of extract; Dissolve the extract with 200ml of water, extract it with the same volume of petroleum ether for three times, and extract the lower phase aqueous solution with the same volume of ethyl acetate for four times, and collect the lower phase aqueous solution. Use the mixed solvent with the volume ratio of n-butanol and ethyl acetate of the same volume of the collected lower phase aqueous solution to extract for three times, combine the upper phase extraction solution, use activated carbon to decolorize the extraction solution, and concentrate the decolorized extraction solution under reduced pressure to obtain 7.3g of total asiaticoside; Add 10 times of methanol to dissolve the total asiaticoside, filter, concentrate the filtrate, and then recrystallize the 90% ethanol aqueous solution at room temperature to obtain 3.3 g of high purity asiaticoside, with a purity of 90% and a yield of 0.66%.

Chemical properties: white crystalline powder, easily soluble in water and ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform, from Centella asiatica.
